Stephen Holmes was an assistant manager of a Steakhouse. While closing the Restaurant, he was stabbed over 40 times. He was almost decapitated.
8000 Dollars was missing from the Safe at the Manager's Office, so it was assumed that the motive was robbery. The restaurant had several surveillance cameras.
Forensics:
1. Finger Prints on a manila folder which was badly smudged.
However, the computer was unable to find a match.
2. Passive blood drops were found near a sink in the restaurant.
The DNA of this blood was compared to the DNA profiles collected of all the family members and Stephen's best friend. However, they did not have enough evidence to convict him.
Finally, they found out that right after his friend's death, the killer used the money he stole from the restaurant to pay off a debt that he had. The police now had motive.
He was convicted of murdering his friend.

Forensic Files: "Dirty Little Secret"
A couple that goes on vacation does not come back.
They met another couple while on vacation, who were killers.
The couple was shot, and stabbed. The female killer got a tattoo on her abdomen where she stabbed her female victim. They killed the couple just for the thrill of killing. They were hunting for thrills. They asked the victims to come to their hotel where they toyed with the victims, until they killed them ultimately.
Forensics found
1. A palm print in the bathroom window.
2. Blood on the bathroom floor, even though the killers cleaned up
3. Flesh and Blood in the drains

FORENSIC FILES: A LEG UP ON CRIME
Sharon Joag " A leg Up on Crime" first aired 9-07-05
Bakersfield, California 1986 - the decomposed body of a young woman was found in a canal. The body was found in the canal, and multiple gun shot wounds were noted. Kay Bradley (21 yr old woman) was the victim. She became involved in drugs, and prostitution, and was at the wrong place at the wrong time when she was killed.
3 shoe impressions were found in soft dirt near the canal. they were identified as Adidas brand Running shoes. The suspect ended up being a policeman. While being interviewed by his fellow detectives, he actually put his feet up on the desk, and investigators saw that he was wearing Adidas shoes, which had the sole of the imprint left at the crime scene. There was a chunk out in the tread pattern of the shoe, which matched the tread pattern from the crime scene. The 38 Caliber weapon was found in the policeman's car.
Once again, shoe prints helped to solve a murder case.
Dave Rogers was arrested and convicted of 2 counts of murder.

"A Cinderella Story" first aired 2007.
A cold case file in which a suspect was found by the shoe prints left inside of his shoes. A forensic podiatrist, from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Robert Kennedy. He established a Data base of shoe impressions, which one could use to match the impressions left inside a shoe. He did a detailed study of how the shoe imprints are made.
These impressions are unique to each individual, and in this case, the impressions of the suspect matched the impressions of the shoes which were found at the crime scene.
Thomas Jaben Barry was convicted of Rape and 1st Degree Murder of Janet Seclary.

Gene Brown, a man who murdered Richard Thomas Smith on July 19, 1991. He was on Crack-cocaine at the time, and he was happily married with a son. Two women who were also in the home during the attack were brutally stabbed, but they survived miraculously.
Gene Brown went Barefoot into the home that night, and found him by his footprint, which he left on an invitation which had fallen to the ground. He said that he went barefoot because he wanted to keep quiet when he broke into the home. He wore his socks on his hands, so that he wouldn't leave any prints.
Unfortunately for him and fortuantely for the victims, he left his footprint at the crime scene, and authorities were able to get a warrant to take Gene Brown's footprint and they found a match!

FORENSIC FILES: SMOKE IN YOUR EYES
The first one I've watched so far which had forensic podiatry is one called, "Smoke in your Eyes", about a perpetrator caught because he left a drop of the victim's blood on his shoes (DNA was analyzed), as well as the shoeprint of the murderer on the victim's jacket. It was amazing how the experts were able to find the print on a leather jacket, and match it to the shoes of the murderer.
